Course Content:

The gospel calls us to keep short accounts with one another (Mt 5:23-24) and to address issues as they come up (Mt 18:15-17). Sometimes it is difficult to do this ourselves and we need someone with the right attitude and skills to help us. Informal Mediation is one way of providing that support for individuals who find themselves in broken relationships and who want reconciliation with their brother or sister in Christ.
This course will give you the chance to build an understanding of informal mediation, when to use it and how to approach setting up a mediation session. The course will start with a reminder of key skills required to mediate effectively. We will then talk through the process with a demonstration of how to run an informal mediation. You will then have the opportunity to practice the skills yourself. Your learning will be supported by experienced mediators with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and explore the topic in more depth.
