Course Content:

SISTAD, in partnership with Havering College of Further and Higher Education, is offering an opportunity for officers to build upon their officer training and fast-track to a degree in Pastoral Care with Psychology. This degree builds on the principles of psychology and applies them to pastoral work in a faith-based setting. Study for the degree will be on a part-time basis over two and a half years, involving the residential weeks as shown, and distance learning.

Course Aims:

  • To offer an interdisciplinary approach to understanding how people work, in order to facilitate improved pastoral care
  • To enhance students’ theoretical knowledge and understanding of pastoral care and psychology in faith-based settings
  • To enable students to critically analyse and evaluate theoretical and practical approaches to pastoral care
  • To enable students to synthesise psychological approaches to pastoral care into their theology and ministry
  • To enable students to reflect critically and act to secure their own development as providers of pastoral care in faith-based settings
