Course Content:

SISTAD, in partnership with York St John University, is offering a top-up degree/graduate diploma in Christian Theology and Practice. This course will build upon officer training and will seek to provide opportunities to deepen officers’ understanding and practice in ministry. The programme is designed to provide the busy practitioner with learning opportunities to enable them to integrate knowledge, experience and skills in ministerial contexts as well as develop key skills through a wide range of learning, teaching and assessment strategies. It includes significant elements of work-based learning and theological reflection upon ministry practice.

Course Aims:

  • To offer a programme that provides synergies between areas of Christian theology and Christian ministerial training
  • To provide students with opportunities to explore the foundations of Christian belief, practice and ministry with specific reference to The Salvation Army
  • To provide opportunities to study theology and ministry through dialogue and conversation
  • To produce a learning experience which encourages open, rational and disciplined study within an environment of respect and tolerance of people and their diverse Christian and religious beliefs
  • To enhance the development of key learning skills which are relevant to the programme and to the demands of personal and professional living within and beyond the college community
